Shawnee Police are investigating after a reported crash involving a power paraglider. A Police Officer on routine patrols located an abandoned vehicle in the 5300 block of Frisbie Road just before 11:30 p.m. Sunday night. Upon further investigation Police located a crashed paraglider in a nearby field with signs of blood.
Police were unable to locate anyone near the scene and began calling local hospitals for anyone with injuries matching those that could have been sustained in such a crash. Dispatchers were able to determine that a man was brought in to the Prairie Star Medical Center, near K-7 Highway and Prairie Star Parkway in Lenexa. That man was then transported by Johnson County Med-Act to Overland Park Regional Medical center for further treatment.
A statement released by Shawnee Police, Monday morning, says that the investigation is ongoing, charges against the man are not expected. The extent of the man's injuries has not been released.
