One man critically injured in fiery crash with tree

Lenexa Police are investigating after a man was critically injured in a one-car crash near 99th Street and Legler on Sunday evening.
Lenexa police officers used fire extinguishers to knock down the
flames before the fire department arrived.

Master Police Officer Danny Chavez says officers were called by a passing motorist who saw the vehicle crashed into a tree and on fire.

"When officers arrived, they extinguished the fire with their in-car fire extinguishers," Ofc. Chavez said in an emailed response to questions. "The driver was transported by Med-Act to the hospital for numerous burns."
A passing driver found the car crashed into a tree and on fire.
The Lenexa Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the crash.
