Police investigate after suspicious package is delivered to business

Posted: December 27, 2018 - 2:33 a.m.

Overland Park police say they were called to investigate a suspicious package on Wednesday afternoon.

Captain Brian Houlahan says officers were called to a business in the 4800 block of College Boulevard at 1:34 p.m.

"Upon arrival, officers cordoned off the area and called for the Overland Park PD EOD (Bomb Squad) to respond," Capt. Houlahan said.

Officers evacuated several nearby businesses as a precaution.

"The EOD squad determined the package contained only laptop batteries that had been ordered by the business and contained no explosive materials," Capt. Houlahan said.

Employees of the business and surrounding businesses were allowed to return to work after the package was determined to be safe.

No injuries were reported.
