Goat stolen from Deanna Rose Farmstead recovered at Olathe McDonald’s

Overland Park Police are investigating after five teenagers stole a goat from the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead and then took the goat to an Olathe McDonald's.

Olathe Police were called to the McDonald's near 151st Street and Black Bob Road around 1:30 a.m. after a group of juveniles reportedly walked the stolen goat into the restaurant. The manager asked the teenagers to leave and called police.

Olathe officers arrived to find a group of teenagers with a goat, walking through the parking lot. Eventually one of the teenagers admitted that the goat had been taken from the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead, located at 13800 Switzer Road in Overland Park. Officers contacted Overland Park Police who responded to the McDonald's with an animal control truck and gave the goat a ride home.

Overland Park Police say five teenagers were arrested and could face charges of trespassing and theft. The goat was returned and appears unharmed.

It is unclear how the teenagers got into the farmstead to begin with.

Olathe firefighters have rescued a woman from inside her burning home.

Firefighters were called to the address in the 2000 block of E. Mohawk Drive shortly before 7 a.m..

Initial reports indicated that two people were trapped inside.

Olathe Fire Department Captain Mike Hall says one woman was rescued from the home by firefighters. A man and the family dog were both able to get out on their own.

Both residents are said to have very minor injuries.

Crews battled heavy fire and requested a second alarm response, as the fire spread into the attic of the two story home. A Battalion Chief at the scene reports that ammunition stored inside the home was firing off due to the heat of the fire.

A total of three Johnson County Med-Act ambulances were called to the scene.

Firefighters from the Overland Park fire department are also on the scene assisting.

A neighbor tells Operation 100 News that Johnson County Med-Act is at the home frequently for various different reasons.

The Red Cross has been called to assist the three adults who were displaced by the fire.

Wrong-way vehicle causes several accidents on Interstate 35 in JoCo

The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating after a wrong-way driver allegedly caused several accidents on Interstate 35 late Monday night.

Olathe Police and Highway Patrol Troopers responded on three accidents just before midnight, all reportedly caused by the same wrong-way vehicle. At least one of the involved driver's reported that a vehicle was northbound in the southbound lanes of the interstate and swerved towards traffic to cause the accident.

The first accident was reported near Lone Elm Road. At least two others were reported near 151st Street.

Troopers believe the wrong-way vehicle also struck a barrier wall and rolled over near the weigh station, north of 167th Street, before continuing northbound in the southbound lanes.

Johnson County Med-Act says no one was injured in the accidents.

The driver of the wrong-way vehicle reportedly ran from the final crash scene, after his vehicle was disabled. Police believe the suspect ran westbound from the crashed vehicle. A child seat was found in the crashed suspect vehicle. Troopers do not believe a child was in the vehicle at the time of the accidents.

A K-9 unit searched the area for more than an hour. That search did not locate the suspect, who is possibly injured.

Olathe Police have not released a suspect description or any other details at this time.

The Kansas Highway Patrol closed all southbound lanes of Interstate 35 at Old 56, just after midnight. All lanes reopened just before 2 a.m..

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office and one Lenexa officer assisted with traffic control in the area.

Man stabbed during fight in Olathe neighborhood

Olathe Police are investigating after a man was found stabbed early this morning.

Police say they were called to the 16100 block of S. Cooper Street on reports of several males fighting.

Officers arrived and contacted the occupants of a vehicle which was seen leaving that area. One officer noticed blood on the back of the victim, who police say, did not realize that he had been stabbed.

Johnson County Med-Act responded to the vehicle stop on the ramp from U.S. 169 Highway to 151st Street and reported the man's injury to be serious but, not immediately life-threatening.

He was transported to an area hospital for further treatment.

A 19-year-old male was arrested at the Cooper Street address and a folding knife was recovered by officers.

The case will be forwarded to the Johnson County District Attorney's Office for charging.

Overland Park firefighters responded on a struck natural gas line Friday evening.

Atmos Energy was digging near the intersection of 151st Street and Switzer Road before 8 p.m. Friday, when a backhoe struck a four-inch natural gas line.

The strike broke the gas line and the escaping gas ignited. Atmos crews immediately notified the Overland Park Fire Department of the break and fire.

Overland Park Fire officials say firefighters cleared the area and stood by, while Atmos crews stopped the flow of gas through the line.

The fire was extinguished around 10 p.m., the intersection remained closed at that time so that KCP&L crews could inspect possible damage to nearby poles and equipment.

One home was evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported.

As of 7:15 a.m., Saturday, the intersection remained closed for KCP&L crews to repair damage. KCP&L says no one is without power due to the repairs.

Overland Park Police investigating threats towards OP Islamic Center

Overland Park Police are investigating after someone made, what police call veiled threats towards the Overland Park Islamic Center.

The center is located at 9001 W. 151st Street.

Overland Park Police spokesperson Officer Michelle Koos tells Operation 100 News, "while we cannot give out specifics, there have been some ongoing veiled threats made to the center. We are currently working to track down the suspect in the case."

Police have been closely monitoring the center nearly around the clock for the last week and say they will continue to do so as needed.

No other details were immediately available.

Three JoCo convenience stores robbed in less than a week

Overland Park Police are investigating following the armed robbery of a convenience store. The third such robbery in less than a week's time. Links to the earlier stories can be found below.

Police say they were called to the Kicks 66 at 8150 W. 151st Street at approximately 6:30 a.m..

Two males entered the store and demanded money and other merchandise from the clerk. Both men were wearing ski masks, one was armed with a rifle and the other had a black handgun.

The pair ordered the clerk to the floor before they fled in a red mid-size vehicle. The vehicle was last seen turning northbound onto U.S. 69 Highway.

Police say the man carrying the rifle was last seen wearing a dark hooded jacket, blue jeans, tennis shoes and a black ski mask. The man with the handgun was wearing a brown jacket, red shirt, white shoes, black gloves and ski mask.

The clerk did not report any injuries in the incident.

This incident is the third convenience store robbery in just under a week, two of them just this weekend. The first was in Shawnee on Tuesday, February 12th, the second was in Overland Park on Saturday, February 16th. Currently no word from Police on whether any of the robberies may be connected.

Threat discovered at Olathe South High School

Olathe School District officials and Police are investigating a messages found at Olathe South High School, 1640 E. 151st Street.

Police say a student discovered the message just before 1 p.m., Thursday, written on restroom stall. The message referred to blowing up the school on Friday, December 7th.

Olathe Police say "the safety and security of students and staff are a primary concern and we are working closely with the Olathe School District to investigate the incident."

Classes will go on as scheduled. Police say they will have extra officers in and around the school.

Olathe accident victim identified

Olathe Police have identified the victim as Arthea E. Saller, 82, of Overland Park, Kansas

Olathe Police say they are investigating a fatality accident that occurred Saturday evening.

Officers were called to the intersection of 151st Street and Pflumm Road for an injury accident at 5:28 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012.

Police say a Chevrolet Impala was traveling westbound on 151st Street and attempted to turn southbound on Pflumm Road when it was struck on the passenger's side by a Hyundai Elantra, which was traveling eastbound on 151st Street.

An 82-year-old female passenger in the Chevrolet was transported to an area hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Her identity has not been released.

The Olathe Police Department Traffic Unit continues to investigate the accident. Anyone with information regarding the investigating is asked to call the Olathe Police Department at 913-971-6950 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
