Shawnee Police are investigating following the armed robbery of a convenience store.
Sergeant Phil Burger says officers responded to the Temp Stop gas station and convenience store, located at 13515 W. 63rd Street, just after 12:40 Tuesday morning following a hold up alarm. The store is on the northwest corner of Shawnee Mission Parkway and Pflumm Road.
The clerk told Police that the store had been held up by an unknown man with a handgun.
Police quickly established a perimeter in the area of the business and called for a K-9 unit to respond from the Lenexa Police Department. The perimeter was held for about 20 minutes as the K-9 checked the area for any signs of the suspect. The search was concluded about 1:10 a.m. with the suspect remaining at large.
Sgt. Burger says the man got away with an undetermined amount of money.
The suspect is described as a black man, possibly older. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, dark pants, and black mask. He was armed with a gray revolver and was last seen exiting the backdoor of the store.
No injuries were reported.
