Police in Overland Park are investigating after the Santa Fe Tow Service lot was burglarized early Monday morning. The lot is located at 8717 Lenexa Drive, just southeast of the Interstate 35 and W. 87th Street interchange.

Overland Park Police Sergeant Gary Mason tells Operation 100 News that the call was received about 4:30 a.m. Monday.

The owner of the business arrived and informed officers that he had spoken to a witness who had followed a possible suspect vehicle from the scene. Officers learned that the possible suspect vehicle had been followed to a self-storage facility that is just under two miles from the tow lot.

Police entered the self-storage property, located near W. 79th Street and E. Frontage Road, where they located and detained the alleged suspect for questioning.

Sgt. Gary Mason says that the suspect allegedly cut the lock on the gate of the tow lot and took several wheels and tires.

As of Monday afternoon, booking records show that a Missouri man has been arrested and booked. He has not been formally charged.
