As you first saw from Operation 100 News on Twitter (post below) this morning, there has been another attempted abduction of a child in Johnson County. This is the third attempt within the last two weeks.
Overland Park Police say they are investigating after a 14-year-old female walking to her bus stop was approached by an unknown man. The incident occurred near 80th Street and Glenwood Street around 8:30 Tuesday morning. Police say the girl attends Indian Hills Middle School in Prairie Village.
The victim says the man was driving a white pickup truck, stopped beside her and told her to get in. The man was holding a black handgun, but did not point it at the victim. The victim ran away from the suspect towards her bus stop. The suspect left the area.
The suspect is described as a white man in his 30's. He was last seen wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and wire rimmed glasses. He also had a trimmed beard and mustache.

Two earlier attempted abductions were reported in Shawnee. The first occurred January 25th. The second occurred February 1st.
