Overland Park Police say Aisha Khan is safe

UPDATE: At 10:20 p.m., Wednesday, December 21st, Overland Park Police confirm that Aisha Khan has been located. Police say they have spoken to Ms. Khan by telephone and she was not abducted or held against her will. It is not believed Aisha Khan was ever in any immediate danger and that no criminal acts had occurred in her disappearance.

Overland Park Police say they have concluded their investigation in the matter.

No other information was immediately available from Police.

As of December 19th, Overland Park Police say the FBI has joined the search. Police also say they have ten detectives assigned to the case with help from more than 50 officers. The Mounted Search and Rescue Unit's civilian volunteers have and continue to assist in the search effort. University of Kansas and Johnson County Community College Police Departments are also involved in the investigation, according to Overland Park Police.

On Monday, Khan's story was featured nationally by CNN and other national networks.

Aisha's friends say they have printed and passed out more than 15,000 fliers with Aisha's picture and description on them to businesses throughout Overland Park and Olathe. Overland Park Police say more than 30 officers searched for any sign of Khan over the weekend. Her family has announced that they are offering a $10,000 reward for information on Khan's whereabouts. Anyone with information is urged to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).

Friends say Aisha reported a "creepy man" who was attempting to talk to her. Aisha sent text messages and left a voice mail for her sister about the man bothering her. When her sister and another relative arrived at the KU Edwards Campus to check on her, they found her belongings, including her cell phone and no sign of Aisha.

Overland Park Police responded on a report of a missing person in the area of the Kansas University's Edwards Campus, 12600 Quivira Road in Overland Park, just before noon Friday, December 16th. Police say the missing person is, 19-year-old, Aisha Khan of Olathe, Kansas.

Khan is described as an Asian female, standing 5' 2" tall, approximately 120 pounds with dark brown hair and brown eyes. She is known to wear glasses. She was last seen wearing black sweat pants, yellow/black shirt, black scarf, black regular length jacket, and black/white long outer coat.
Overland Park Police ask anyone with information on Aisha Khan's disappearance, whereabouts or any other information regarding the incident to contact the Greater Kansas City Crimestoppers TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
