At 3:52 a.m. Monday morning Lenexa Police arrived on the scene of a one car injury accident on westbound K-10 Highway approximately one-half mile west of Ridgeview Road. The highway was immediately closed to all traffic.

Fire/Rescue crews from Lenexa and Olathe arrived on scene and advised the vehicle involved had sustained moderate to heavy damage.

The driver of the vehicle is described as a 31-year-old male who is believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel and struck a bridge guard wall according to preliminary scanner traffic. The passenger of the vehicle is described as a 29-year-old female. Both are reported to have been wearing their seat belts, suffered minor injuries and were transported by Med-Act to Overland Park Regional for further treatment.

All lanes have been reopened as of 4:40 a.m. Monday morning. One Police vehicle remains on the right shoulder at the accident scene awaiting KDOT arrival to inspect the bridge wall that was struck during the accident.
