Prisoner with criminal history in JoCo escapes from Lansing

Lansing Correctional Facility officials and law enforcement area wide are looking for an escaped prisoner.

The prisoner, Ronny Dale Peters, 33, is said to have escaped from the minimum security compound at Lansing, around 3 p.m. Wednesday. Peters is a white male, standing 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 108lbs with red/auburn hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue shirt, and either black boots or tennis shoes. Peters has been known to use the aliases of "Petie" and "Shorty". Prison officials say he, as all escaped prisoners, should be considered dangerous.


Peters was sentenced in Johnson County Court in February 2011 and was serving a 32-month sentence for charges including aggravated battery, theft, burglary, domestic battery and drug related offenses. Prior to the escape, his projected release date was February 1, 2013.
