Lenexa hit & run sends four to the hospital

Just after 11 p.m. on Sunday night the Kansas Highway Patrol and Lenexa Police along with units from Lenexa and Olathe Fire Departments were called to investigate a rollover injury accident in the northbound lanes of I-35 near College Boulevard in Lenexa.

Lenexa Police arrived on the scene and found a 1998 Ford Explorer rolled onto it's side near the median barrier wall. The four women who were in the vehicle were able to free themselves from the vehicle. Those women informed officers that they were struck by another vehicle which fled the scene after the accident. The suspect vehicle was described only as a "black compact car with heavy front end damage" and it was last seen continuing northbound on I-35 from College Boulevard.

According to an accident report filed by the Kansas Highway Patrol, the suspect vehicle was traveling in the right lane while the victim vehicle was in the left lane. The suspect vehicle moved left, striking the victim vehicle which then struck the median wall and rolled. The suspect vehicle continued traveling northbound.

The four women in the victim vehicle were all wearing their seat belts and suffered what were described as minor injuries. Ages of the women involved range from 16-19 years-old. They were all transported by Med-Act to an area hospital.
