Shawnee man arrested after short lock down

Updated: 4:30p.m. 9/8/2011

The man said to be responsible for the lock down of a Shawnee street last night has been booked into the county jail this morning. Police say 37-year-old, Romaine McClenton is the man responsible.

Police were called to the 6400 block of Hallet Street around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday night on reports of an aggravated assault. A female victim fled from the address and contacted Police. According to the victim, McClenton was likely still armed inside the address. Police surrounded the house and blocked traffic on Hallet Street, south of 63rd Street as a precaution.

A Police Sergeant called McClenton on the telephone and instructed him to come out of the house. The man complied and was taken into custody in the street in front of the address.

This morning the suspect was booked into the County Jail and faces charges for aggravated assault, domestic battery, criminal threat and felony possession of meth.

The victim was treated by Med-Act for her injuries.

McClenton is being held on a $25,000 bond.
