Original Report:

Shawnee and Merriam Police are both investigating after two very similar clothing story robberies Tuesday evening.

The first occurred in Shawnee at Maurice's, 15230 Shawnee Mission Parkway, around 5:40 p.m.. Shawnee Police say a white female, approximately 5ft 6in tall, with brown hair in a bun and wearing a 'Chiefs' jacket, black pants and flip flops entered the store and picked up some clothing items. She then walked to the checkout where she handed the clerk a note demanding money and "no one would get killed," according to Shawnee Police.

Police say no weapon was displayed and the woman left the store with an unknown amount of money and the clothing she was carrying. She left the parking lot eastbound in a white Chevrolet Cavalier with a black bumper. There was no information regarding the vehicle's license plate.

No injuries were reported.

The second incident occurred in Merriam at the Marshall's department store in the 5800 block of Antioch Road at approximately 7 p.m., where the suspect was captured on surveillance video.

Merriam Police say a female came into the store and passed a note to the cashier indicating that she had a gun and demanded money. No weapon was displayed and the woman left the store with an undisclosed amount of money.

Again, the woman was described as a white or Hispanic female, 30-40 years of age, wearing a 'Chiefs' jacket, glasses and had her hair pulled back in a bun.

No injuries were reported and no vehicle was seen.

The two stores are about four miles apart. Merriam Police acknowledge the similarities in suspect description and say they are working closely with Shawnee Police to determine if the crimes involve the same woman.

Anyone with information on either robbery is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
