Man run over and dragged in Oct. 19 accident

Update:

A Lawrence Police accident report, obtained by the Lawrence Journal-World, says that, 22-year-old, Elbert Davis Jr., had fallen face-down on North Seventh Street, just north of Ash Street. Davis has medical issues and had been drinking alcohol before the fall.

About 1:30 a.m., a Dodge Stratus driven by Wade Briscoe, 21, of Lawrence, turned the corner on Ash Street and headed north on North Seventh Street. Briscoe ran over Davis, dragging him 56 feet.

Lawrence Police suspect Briscoe had been drinking alcohol, and administered tests. The results of those tests are pending and Briscoe has not been arrested or charged.

Davis was transported to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka, the Journal-World reports that an update on Davis' condition has not been available.

Lawrence Police are investigating this morning after a subject was run over by a vehicle.

Police and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical crews were dispatched to the intersection of N 7th Street and Ash Street at 1:23 a.m. after a caller reported that a person was lying in the street when a vehicle "rolled over" the subject.

Medics reported finding one person in critical condition near the intersection and requested the availability of a LifeStar helicopter. Dispatchers reported that the helicopter was unavailable due to high winds.

The injured person, was transported to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka.

The vehicle which struck the person reportedly remained at the scene. No other details have been released.

THIS SAME TYPE OF ACCIDENT HAPPEN 20 YRS AGO ONLY IN A ALLY..GUY PAST OUT; KID RAN OVER HIM; BUT IT WAS HANDLED LIKE A HIT AND RUN BECASUE THE DRIVER OF THE CAR DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HE DID;SO HE DIDN'T TURN HIMSELF IN BECAUSE HE WAS DRUNK TOO!!!! PLEASE PEOPLE IF YOU ARE DRUNK STAY AWAY FROM STREETS...YOU RUIN LIFES WHEN YOU GET RUNOVER!!!AND NOT JUST YOURS...
