Callers to 911 reported that a vehicle had crashed into a tree and the vehicle was on fire. There were conflicting reports as to whether the driver was trapped in the vehicle, ejected from the vehicle or had escaped on their own from the vehicle. Police arrived and reported that bystanders pulled the driver from the vehicle. Officers also reported that on their arrival the vehicle was fully involved with fire.
Overland Park Fire and Johnson County Med-Act arrived on scene and reported the victim to be in critical condition. Med-Act described the victim as a 23-year-old female. The female was transported to an area trauma center by Johnson County Med-Act.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that there was an odor of Alcohol coming from the driver. Overland Park Police say they are investigating whether or not alcohol played a role in the accident.
