The Olathe Fire Department is investigating the cause of an early morning house fire in the 15700 block of west 152nd Terrace. Emergency Dispatchers say they received reports of the fire just before 3:10 Thursday morning with first fire crews arriving on the scene just after 3:15 a.m.. Arriving fire crews reported "fire showing from the roof of a two story wood framed house."
As of 3:47 a.m., incident command has declared the fire to be "under control." Fire crews from the Olathe Fire Department along with one apparatus and crew from both; Overland Park Fire and Johnson County Fire District 2 were all involved on the incident.
All occupants, two couples, were confirmed to be evacuated, shortly after the fire department's arrival. No injuries were reported.
Investigators say that it appears the fire began around the chimney, possibly in the flue and the residence sustained heavy damage in several areas. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damage is estimated at $75,000.
