Overland Park Police Department's Traffic units are investigating after a car and motorcycle collided in the northbound lanes of Metcalf near 56th Street. Mission Police are assisting with traffic in the area.

Johnson County Consolidated Fire District No. 2 arrived on scene to report car versus motorcycle with major damage. Firefighters initially reported one victim in full cardiac arrest with CPR in progress, another person with critical injuries, and a third with serious injuries.

Authorities confirm that the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Metcalf, the car was southbound and making a left turn to eastbound 56th Terrace when the two collided, killing a front seat passenger in the car.
The man on the motorcycle, only described as being in his 20's, was critically injured. Investigators say the man was wearing a helmet. The driver of the car, described as being a "78-year-old male", was seriously injured. Both were transported to an area hospital for further treatment.
Police have not released an details regarding the deceased victim, only to say that all involved parties are adults.
Investigators confirm the accident occurred in Overland Park. All lanes of Metcalf at 56th Street are within the city limits of Overland Park. Mission city limits begins just off of the east shoulder of Metcalf. Mission Police were the first to arrive at the scene.
