Merriam Police, Fire and Johnson County Med-Act were called to the Wendy's at 10006 W. 75th Street around 2 a.m. Friday after a male told employees that he had been stabbed. Police say the victim and his attacker know each other and the incident likely occurred a short distance away.

Police confirmed a "small puncture wound" to the man's lower left abdomen and after confirming that the suspect had fled the scene, requested that Med-Act respond. Officers from Shawnee and a K-9 unit from Lenexa assisted in the search, which wrapped up around 3:30 a.m.. Police know the suspect's name and continue to be on the lookout for him this morning.

Officers say they believe the two men had an argument at which point the victim was stabbed near the stomach. After being stabbed the victim fled on foot to the Wendy's where he alerted employees to call for Police.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 40's with a beard. He was last seen wearing all black clothing and a black stocking cap. Anyone with information on the suspect's whereabouts or about the incident itself is asked to call Merriam Police.
