Former employee suspected in McDonald's robbery

Leawood Police are investigating after a former employee allegedly robbed the McDonald's restaurant near 119th Street and Roe Avenue early Wednesday.

Police say they were called to the restaurant, located at 4600 West 119th Street, at 1:15 a.m.

Employees were able to tell officers the suspect's name and other details. He is described as a 23-year-old black male.

Police say the suspect is a black male in his mid-20s. He was wearing a black hoodie, dark pants, a baseball cap, gloves, and a scarf over his face. He was carrying a black backpack and was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun.

The suspect was last seen getting into a white, newer model Chevrolet Impala or Malibu. The vehicle was last seen northbound on Roe Avenue.

Police say no one was injured and no customers were inside the restaurant.

Officers released the scene back to employees around 3:40 a.m.

Police continue to investigate.
