Serious injuries reported in car versus bicycle accident

Merriam Police are investigating after a bicyclist was struck by a car Wednesday morning.

The accident was reported around 6:10 a.m. in the 6500 block of E. Frontage Road, near Gold's Gym.

Johnson County Med-Act reports a 49-year-old man with serious injuries. The man has been transported to an area hospital for further treatment. His injuries are said to be to his legs. He was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
