Lawrence Police are investigating after a motorcycle crashed near the intersection of Sunnyside Avenue and Edgehill Road. The accident was reported around 2:05 a.m. Saturday.

Fire Medical crews arrived at the scene to find one motorcycle down and no other vehicles involved. The rider was said to have serious injuries.

A LifeStar air-ambulance landed in the west parking lot of Lawrence High School.

Authorities say the 22-year-old man was walking around when medics arrived on the scene. He was not wearing a helmet and bystanders reported that he was unconscious for a short time after the motorcycle went down. Alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the accident.

The LifeStar helicopter transported the man to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas.

No other details were immediately available.
