Update: A statement released this afternoon by Olathe Police says that at 9:36 a.m., Police were called to an address in the 1300 block of E 120th Street on a report of an Aggravated Burglary in progress. The homeowner told arriving officers that a man confronted him at the front door of the address. That man was armed with a handgun and entered the residence. At that time the homeowner and two small children fled the house through a backdoor. The residents fled to a nearby business to call Police.
Officers quickly established a perimeter throughout the neighborhood and later deployed a robot inside the residence. No one was found to be inside the home and no injuries were reported.
Police say the suspect remains at large this afternoon. The man is described as a heavy set white male, standing approximately 6ft to 6ft 2in tall, with dark hair and dark rimmed glasses. He was last seen wearing black overalls and black shoes.
The case remains under investigation and Olathe Police ask anyone with information to contact them at 913-971-6950 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477 (TIPS).

Olathe Police confirm that they are dealing with a situation near 120th Street and Ridgeview Road. The situation began when a man with a gun entered a residence around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Officers say an adult and two children were inside when the unknown man broke in. The adult and both children were able to flee from the address safely.
A source familiar with the incident confirms to Operation 100 News that Olathe Fire Department's Bomb Squad responded to provide the Police with a robot to clear the house. Officials have since cleared the house without locating anyone inside.
Police have locked down a large area and continue searching for the suspect. No description of the man was immediately available.
Johnson County Med-Act is also standing by near the scene. As of this report, no injuries have been reported.
