I-435 and Johnson Drive bridge work to begin Monday

Comanche Construction plans to begin work, weather permitting, at 9 a.m. Monday, April 11, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation. The $1.1 million bridge repair project will include mill, patch and overlay of the bridge deck, joint repairs and painting of structural steel under the bridge deck. The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-July.

During the project drivers should expect lane restrictions on both Interstate 435 and Johnson Drive. Traffic in both directions of Johnson Drive will be restricted to one lane and turns will be sestricted from eastbound Johnson Drive to southbound I-435 during rush hours, 6-8 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. There will be a marked detour available.

Traffic in both directions of Interstate 435 will be restricted to one lane during the Monday through Friday overnight hours of 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.. All ramps will remain open during these times.

Advance message boards will alert drivers to the lane closures. Daily lane closure information for the project can be viewed online at ksdot.org/kcmetro/laneclose.asp.
