Lenexa man killed in car vs motorcycle accident

Lenexa Police are investigating after a motorcycle rider was killed in a head-on crash with a car, late Tuesday night.

Police, Fire and Med-Act were called to the area of Santa Fe Trail Drive and Pflumm Road for an injury accident involving a motorcycle at 11:33 p.m..

Lenexa Fire arrived in the area to find the crash scene in the 9200 block of Santa Fe Trail Drive, in Old Town Lenexa. Firefighters confirmed a car vs motorcycle crash.

Master Police Officer Dan Friesen says, "the car and motorcycle collided head-on resulting in the death of the motorcycle rider. The driver of the car was not injured."

Wednesday afternoon, Lenexa Police officially identified the motorcycle rider as James Michael Raupp, 25, of Lenexa, Kansas.

Raupp was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Police say no charges are anticipated.

The Lenexa Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit continues to investigate the accident.

Santa Fe Trail Drive reopened at 6:45 a.m.

Firefighters extinguish Lenexa house fire

Firefighters from Lenexa and Overland Park battled cold temperatures on the scene of a house fire this morning.

Crews were dispatched to 13216 W. 95th Street just before 8:15 Monday. The address is just between Pflumm Road and Interstate 35, on 95th Street.

Lenexa Fire arrived to report flames visible from the a back window of the two story home. Firefighters assisted residents and a dog from the home.

Police have closed a section of 95th Street between Noland Road and Haskins Street.

The address is familiar to Lenexa Police, who advised fire crews this home has been involved in manufacturing Methamphetamine in the past.

Firefighters were able to knock down heavy fire in the rear of the structure.

The fire was reported to be under control at 9:08 a.m..

No injuries were reported.

Temperatures were around 12°F with a wind chill of only 1°F while crews were on scene.
