Shawnee Police are investigating after a man armed with an ax handle held up the 7-Eleven convenience store just off Interstate 435 at Midland Drive late Friday.

Officers were called to the business at 16675 Midland Drive just before 11 p.m.
Recorded radio traffic indicates a man entered the business and threatened the clerk with an ax handle. The clerk reportedly gave the suspect cash and cigarettes.
A K-9 from the Lenexa Police Department was called in to assist with a search of the area. The suspect was not located during the K-9 search.

Radio traffic described the suspect as a white male with red hair. He was last
seen wearing a blue ‘Colorado’ hoodie. The clerk told officers that he left the
business on foot and was walking east.
Officers from Johnson County Park Police along with officers and a K-9 from the Lenexa Police Department assisted with the search for a suspect.
