Leavenworth man killed when his SUV struck a bridge in Shawnee

Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers investigating the crash
A Leavenworth man died in a fatal crash on northbound Interstate 435 at Johnson Drive Thursday morning.

The wreck happened about 6:45 a.m. when Gregory Sifferman, 51, of Leavenworth swerved off the roadway and struck the bridge pillar for northbound I-435 at Johnson Drive, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. He was driving a black 2000 Dodge Durango.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Traffic was limited to one lane as Troopers investigated the scene Thursday morning. All lanes were open shortly after 8 a.m.
