Firefighters arrived and quickly found visible fire on the roof and then in the attic area of the building. Employees told arriving crews that everyone had made it out of the building.
Incident command ordered a second alarm response at 1:20 a.m..
At 1:40 a.m., crews reported that they had knocked down the bulk of the fire. Crews are making their way back inside the building to extinguish hot spots after initially fighting the fire from the exterior only.

As of this report, no injuries have been reported.
The fire was reported to be under control shortly after 2 a.m..
Lawrence Police have requested barricades to close 6th Street between Arkansas and Maine Streets. Missouri Street between 6th and 7th is also closed.
