The Overland Park Police Department is investigating after a fire apparatus was involved in an accident this morning.
The Overland Park Fire Department says the accident occurred shortly after 9 a.m. Friday, when one of their fire engines was struck from behind by a mini-van. It happened on the westbound Interstate 435 ramp to Quivira Road. Damage to the mini-van and fire engine is described as moderate. No injuries were reported in the accident.
At the time of the accident, the fire engine was responding to a reported accident in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 435 between Quivira and U.S. 69 Highway. A second fire apparatus was sent on the initial accident call, where one non life-threatening injury was reported.
Both accidents remain under investigation.
