Standoff ends peacefully after more than nine hours

Overland Park Police surrounded a home in the 11400 block of 142nd Terrace, in the area of 143rd Street and Quivira Road, following a disturbance call around 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers called for the department's SWAT team and negotiators to respond around 12:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say they were in contact with the man throughout the ordeal.

The man was said to be armed, since the situation ended peacefully, around 9:30 a.m., officers have not said whether or not any firearms were found.

Tactical Medics from Johnson County Med-Act were on the scene and an ambulance unit was staged nearby.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office is also assisted with the situation's early stages.

No injuries were reported.
