Silver Alert CANCELED: 86-year-old, Ellen "Jane" Cates found & safe

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office says Ellen "Jane" Cates was found by another motorist. She was found to be safe and well.

In a news release Master Deputy Tom Erickson said, "law enforcement has made contact with Cates and is working to reunite her with her family."

A source tells Operation 100 News that Cates was found along Interstate 29 in southern Iowa. "It appears she became disoriented and just kept driving. Her SUV ran out of gas, she got out and walked. Another driver stopped to check on her. The driver 'Googled' her name on a smartphone, found the silver alert and contacted authorities."

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help locating a missing woman.

Deputies say 86-year-old, Ellen "Jane" Cates was last seen on Sunday, May 26 at 7 a.m.. She was driving from her home in the Lake Quivira area to a church in Overland Park, near 79th Street and Lowell Avenue. She was driving a silver and gold 2004 Lexus RX 330 sport utility vehicle, with Kansas license plate 520CGN.

Ellen Cates is a white female, standing approximately 5 foot, 1 inch tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. She suffers from dementia.
