Firefighters from two area departments were called to battle a house fire late Tuesday evening.

The Overland Park Fire Department and Consolidated Fire District No. 2 were called to the home at 7132 Dearborn Street just before 9 p.m..

On their arrival, crews found fire showing from the roof of the one story residence with power lines down in the backyard. Crews searched the home and determined that it was unoccupied. While inside, firefighters also found there was a damaged gas line inside which was also on fire.

Due to the hazards in the backyard, inside the home and the likelihood of a roof collapse, crews battled the fire from the outside.

Overland Park Fire Department's Jason Rhodes says that crews KCP&L and Kansas Gas shut down service to the house and crews knocked down a stubborn attic fire, that took more than an hour to bring under control.

No injuries were reported and the home is a complete loss.
