The call was dispatched just after 11:45 a.m. in the 57th Terrace and Goddard Street in Shawnee. A caller reported a Deffenbaugh Disposal truck had crashed in the area.
Shawnee Police and Fire responded with Johnson County Med-Act to the scene. One person was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Shawnee Police say their Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the accident. Officers say the man was the Deffenbaugh truck's driver and that he had stepped out of the truck when the truck rolled over him.
Police have identified the driver as, 61-year-old, Gary G. Anderson of Ottawa, Kansas. Anderson was the only person assigned to the truck on Friday.
Goddard Street, between Johnson Drive and 57th Street was closed for about two hours as Police investigated.
