The city of Olathe today issued a burn ban that will go into effect beginning Saturday, October 29th.
A statement released this afternoon says that the ban will be in place as a preventative measure and will exclude grills and recreational activities like fire pits.
Olathe Fire Department Division Chief and Fire Marshal Brad Henson said, "Proactive fire prevention measures such as this are important to helping reduce the community's risk to fire."
The ban will remain in place indefinitely, until the unseasonably dry weather conditions improve.
Previously issued burn permits are also suspended and the Fire Department will not be issuing any new burning permits until the ban is lifted.
