JCCC: Kidnapping reported on campus

Johnson County Community College issued another "Campus Alert" late Friday morning after a male student reported being kidnapped from a parking garage Thursday evening. This is the second "Campus Alert" issued this week at JCCC.

This most recent incident allegedly occurred in the Galileo's Garder Parking Garage on the JCCC campus around 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The student reported he was approached by a black male who he believed may have a gun. The suspect told the student to get in his car and drive. The suspect allegedly took his cell phone as well as money from his wallet and using an ATM, more money from his bank account. The student was eventually released unharmed in Kansas City, Missouri around 8 p.m. Thursday night.

The suspect is described as a black male, 20-24 years-old, 180lbs, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, wearing a black hooded shirt, a black hat and black shorts. He is also said to have "dread-like" hair pulled back and a silver chain around his neck.

Overland Park Police are investigating the case and JCCC Police are patrolling the college's parking lots. Anyone with information should call JCCC Police at extension 4112.

This week's earlier "Campus Alert" was issued Tuesday after a female student reported a man in a vehicle following her as she walked in a campus parking lot. More on this story.
