PHOTOS: Overland Park Police investigating apparent murder-suicide

Overland Park Police are investigating after two people were found dead inside of an SUV early Sunday morning.

Emergency crews were dispatched to respond on a reported injury accident on Mastin Street south of College Boulevard, shortly after 1:05 a.m..

Police arrived on the scene to report two people inside of a white Jeep Grand Cherokee, both with gunshot wounds.

Johnson County Med-Act reported that both people were deceased.

Overland Park Police say they are investigating the incident as an apparent murder-suicide.

A male and female were found deceased inside the vehicle from apparent gunshot wounds, according to a statement from Overland Park Police.

On Monday, police identified the people involved as Jamie Lee Newkirk, age 27, and Jason Hershey Crabtree, age 33.
