Victim stabbed during robbery

Gardner Police are investigating after a man was robbed and stabbed this morning.

Police were called to the Arby's parking lot at 1870 E. Santa Fe Street shortly before 4:00 a.m.. Officers contacted the victim and learned that he had been robbed of his wallet, struck on the head and stabbed in the abdomen. The Arby's is located just west of Interstate 35 and 175th Street, which is also U.S. Highway 56.

Johnson County Med-Act says the victim's injury is serious. The victim, said to be a male in his mid-20's, was transported to an area hospital.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 50 years old, standing 5 feet 10 inches and approximately 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red jacket and walking westbound towards the Conestoga Estates mobile home park at 1199 E. Santa Fe Street.
