Homeowner interrupts burglary

Posted: January 5, 2013 - 11:17pm

Shawnee Police say they were called to an address in the 5800 block of Long Avenue to investigate a residential burglary around 2:30, Saturday afternoon.

In a news release late Saturday, Sergeant Jon Pirie says initial investigation has revealed a female victim entered the home, interrupting the burglary. The suspect threatened her with a firearm and then fled the scene in the homeowner's vehicle.

Police also investigated a residential burglary in the 6100 block of Long Avenue on December 31, 2012. It is unclear if the two incidents may be related.

Anyone with information regarding either burglary is urged to call Shawnee Police at 913-631-2155 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
