Olathe Homicide, September 18

Olathe Police have provided a press release this morning regarding a homicide that occurred last night in the 500 block of East Brier Drive. The suspect is in custody and currently awaiting charges at the New Century Adult Detention Center.

On Sunday September 18th at 8:01 pm Olathe Police officers were dispatched to 516 East Brier Drive on a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, officers observed a male victim who was found deceased from a gunshot wound. Information received indicated that a male suspect had fled the residence and possibly was still in the area on foot.

At approximately 10:35 PM, officers located the male suspect in a wooded area a few blocks away from the residence. He was taken into custody and later transported to the Johnson County Adult Detention Center where he will be held pending formal charging by the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office.

As this investigation unfolded, the Olathe Police Department employed the assistance of several law enforcement agencies to include; The Johnson County Sheriff's Department and the Kansas Highway Patrol.
