Tree removal to force closure of Kentucky Street on Thursday morning

Lawrence Parks and Recreation will close a section of Kentucky Street for emergency tree removal on Thursday morning. The closure will be from 15th to 19th and is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. With the closure lasting for approximately two hours.

The large tree is damaged and a large section of the tree is in danger of falling. A press release says the tree "The tree has sustained storm damage in the past and is at the point where the city feels it can no longer remain without significant pruning."

The release also suggests that motorists utilize Massachusetts Street as a detour during the closure
